Guitar Thoughts and what the…!

February 12, 2006

i better watch out my open eye…stretching inactive brain cells…cracking 9 1/2 fingers… but the only way out is to do such…things!

Lap_guits
1.
easier than the easiest guitar syllabus… again? revision forever! First, I should be considering the age then the type of guitar, then the music, then what? huh! HELP! Sir Valdez…

2. evaluation of students...after (8) lessons

3. more convincing easy rock to metal songs (intros will do the trick sometimes), huh, what the… I’m currently analyzing songs of Slipknot, Arctic Monkeys, Disturbed, Stone Temple Pilots (again?), Papa Roach and even The Veronicas…good thing i’ve downloaded the Guitar Pro 5 (check this out guys! it has realistic sound engine! from distorted guitars to crash cymbals…sound like ey!), teaching is a lot easier now. And i also have the zipped 22,000 Guitar Pro songs! ha ha, you name it, i’ll play it.

4. download loads of Mp3’s from torrent sites. yeah, to update myself with  new music and of course, for personal pleasure! i never thought that Fiona Apple would bring a bounce to my senses and after hearing the Andres Segovia Centenary Celebration…huh! i’m putting into memory once again pieces by Torroba and some Philippine Classic Kundimans (uy, in-love…)

Lex_work5. sleep early, wake up early. Forcing myself to sleep as early as 11:30 PM… i can’t help it… i have to look for torrents to download  before i go to sleep.

6. scale exercises and warm-ups. i think i’m tired of mixing and experimenting with the
blues pentatonic…(curse you, Angus Young!) and although it still works, i have to figure some exotic or some jazzy scales, whole tone, diminished and the like. But, the chromatic scale is still in its effectiveness, both classical and electric guitars.

7. tremolo picking. not only for the electric guitar, i’m eyeing towards another interesting stringed-instrument -the mandolin. Can’t find it here. Or why not trying the ‘ud?

8. transcribing and arranging stuffs. Encore 4.5 is back to business. Starting with a composition of my classical guitar student Elvira, a danza, to be submitted in the Puerto Rico Composition Festival. Huh, my last solo guitar arrangement was the Carpenter’s "Superstar". More Lex, more.

What the…!?
